Set a File (PDF/JPG/GIF) to Automatically Open in the Browser
It's often convenient to have a file, such as a PDF document or image, open in a new tab in the browser where you're working with Eproval, rather than opening in a different application. This makes it easier to access and review those files during the application and review process.
To make this happen automatically whenever you open a file of that type in Windows Explorer (on a PC) or Finder (on a Mac), you need to update the default application that your computer will use to open that file.
These instructions cover setting the default application for both Windows and Mac desktops and laptops, and will show you how to make the browser you use for Eproval your default.
Steps for Windows (PC)
Open File Explorer and navigate to the file you want to open in a new tab on your browser.
Right-click the file and select Open With > Choose another app.
From the list of available apps, select the browser you use for Eproval (such as Google Chrome, Microsoft edge, or Firefox).
Click Always.
The file will open in a new tab on your browser. Now, when you open (double-click) any file of that type in Windows Explorer, it will automatically open in a new browser tab.
If you want to change this setting to default to a different browser, or a different application such as Adobe Acrobat, redo the steps above and choose the desired browser or application.
Steps for a Mac
Open Finder and navigate to the file you want to open in a new tab on your browser.
Right-click (or Control-click) the file and select Get Info.
The file opens in a small Preview window.
On the Preview window, click the > (carat) icon beside Open with: to see available options for opening the file.
The dropdown menu shows the current default application for opening the file. Click the dropdown menu and select the browser you use for Eproval (such as Google Chrome, Microsoft edge, or Firefox).
Click Change All.
When prompted to confirm that you want to change all similar documents to open with the selected browser, click Continue.
Now, when you open (double-click) any file of that type in Finder, it will automatically open in a new browser tab.
If you want to change this setting to default to a different browser, or a different application such as Adobe Acrobat, redo the steps above and choose the desired browser or application.
